This competition is for string players between 16 and 30 years of age. For the initial screening round, candidates perform two contrasting movements of any piece composed by Bach for unaccompanied string instrument. (Partitas, Sonatas or Suites)
Finalists perform complete works at the Staller Center Recital Hall, Stony Brook University.
We will be posting information about next year’s competition at jsbachcompetition.org in March 2020. We hope you will participate next year.

Finals held on Tuesday, December 3, 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm at the Staller Center Recital Hall, Stony Brook University.
Prizes
The winner will receive a cash prize of $5,000 and will perform at the first annual Island Symphony Bach Festival, Sunday January 26, 2020 at
St. Peter’s By-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Bay Shore, NY.
Second Place Prize: $500
