
American-born, Vienna-based violist Alessandra Yang is the recipient of the Chamber Music Prize at the 2025 Concours de Genève International Viola Competition, first prize at the MuK 2025 Concerto Competition, and a Villa Musica Scholarship holder. She performs regularly at festivals including Open Chamber Music (IMS Prussia Cove), Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players, and the Poor Richard Chamber Music Society, and has participated in programs such as the Verbier Academy, Nume Festival, Seiji Ozawa Academy, and Accademia Chigiana. As a historical performer, she is active on baroque viola and viola d’amore, collaborating with conductors John Eliot Gardiner and Stefan Gottfried, as well as violinists Lina Tur Bonet, Cynthia Roberts, and Elisabeth Wiesbauer. She is a frequent guest artist at the Newburyport Chamber Music Festival Winter Baroque series and has recorded with the orchestra Tempesta di Mare. Alessandra is currently completing her bachelor’s degree with Jennifer Stumm at the Music and Arts Private University of Vienna (MuK) and studies baroque viola with Ulrike Engel.
