Born in 1999, South Korean violinist Jaewon Wee recently won the Second Prize and the Special iPalpiti Prize at the George Enescu International Competition 2020-21 in Bucharest. She made her New York debut at Lincoln Center, Alice Tully Hall in 2019 as winner of the Violin Concerto Competition at the Juilliard School. Jaewon won top prizes in the Menuhin International Violin Competition 2014, Tchaikovsky International Competition for young musicians, Kloster Schöntal International Competition, KBS·KEPCO Music Competition, the Journal of Music Europe Debut Concours, Great Mountains International Music Festival Concerto Competition, Ishikawa International Music Award, and many others.
Jaewon received her Bachelor’s degree from Korea National University of Arts, where she studied with Nam Yun Kim, Koichiro Harada, and Takashi Shimizu, and graduated with the President’s Award. She received her master’s degree at Juilliard, studying with Ronald Copes. She is currently pursuing a Graduate Diploma program with Donald Weilerstein on full scholarship at the New England Conservatory.
